skip hire for construction companies

Selecting the right skip for construction companies

Bakers Waste Services Ltd understand that choosing the right skip can be difficult for construction companies, there are so many options and varieties which makes it hard to be sure you’re making the right decision. Whether you’re ordering a skip for the first time or are a seasoned veteran, we have devised the perfect 5-step guide to help you.

Waste Types

Skips have multiple purposes when it comes to the materials you can put in them; making skip hire the obvious choice for almost any project. Our skips are ideal for waste materials such as general waste, cardboard, soils and inert materials (aggregates, concrete and ceramics).

Examples of waste materials we don’t accept through skip hire include carpet, fridges, food waste, liquids and tyres.

What’s more, is the type of waste you’re disposing of will determine your price too; more on this below.

Waste Management On-site

Continuing on from waste types, managing your waste could be the source of reducing costs and increasing efficiency on-site. Recycling more of your waste materials results in less spend due to land-fill taxes rising, so why not save the planet whilst saving money?

Furthermore, this helps construction companies to keep their site safe too; you might want to select an enclosed skip to ensure waste materials are contained and dry. Perhaps you have a space issues? Which leads us on to our next point!

Restrictions On-site

Struggling for space? Whether your site is too big, long, wide, horizontal, all of the above, we have the skip to suit your needs and requirements. With Bakers Waste skip sizes ranging from 2 yards to 12 yards, you have the option of multiple smaller skips for different waste types or fewer larger skips, the choice is yours.

Always double check you have enough space, the ideal turning circle for deliveries and collections is 20 metres.

Waste Quantities

The amount of waste going in the skip will of course determine the size of the skip itself. Make sure to be vigilant when picking the correct size, Bakers Waste cannot collect your skip if it is overloaded, as it’s a legal requirement to have a sheet secured to the top of the skip.

Remember to think ahead, will your project require bigger skips as it goes from one phase to the next? We also offer Roll On Roll Off hire for the biggest projects.
